Before you delete

Warning:

You cannot undo a delete. Save what you need first.

  1. Export the job history. Refer to Job history.
  2. Keep the commands that set up your teams and partitions, so that you can run them on a new cluster. Refer to Teams.
  3. Copy the text of your Slurm settings from the Slurm settings tab.
  4. Move all needed files from /tmp on compute nodes to your home folder.

Procedure

  1. Open the cluster's Overview tab.
  2. Click Delete cluster.
  3. Read the dialog. It shows the export command too.
  4. Type the cluster's name.
  5. Click Delete.

The status changes to Deleting. The delete takes about 3 to 5 minutes. Then the cluster leaves the list.

You cannot delete a cluster while it is being created. The Delete cluster button stays off until then. Hold the pointer over it to see why:

A cluster can’t be deleted while it’s being created.

If the connection stops, the console shows We couldn’t confirm this. Check the cluster’s status. Read the status before you try again.

After the delete

You can create a new cluster on the same filesystem. If you use the same login names, people get their home folders and files back. Their teams and limits do not come back. An admin must set those up again.

The new login VM can get the old login VM's public IP address, with a new host key. Refer to Connect and log in.

To stop the filesystem's bill, delete the filesystem on the Shared Filesystems page.
