Billing
What is charged
Each VM of the cluster has a price per hour: all compute nodes, the login VM and the scheduler VM. Each VM's price includes its disk. The shared filesystem has a separate bill.
Read the price on the create page before you create. The Configuration card shows the price of each part, the total per hour and the total per day. After create, the Price row on the Overview tab shows the total. For a new compute node, the Add compute nodes dialog shows the price.
Compute nodes bill all the time, with or without jobs. Slurm does not stop them when the queue is empty. To stop the charges for a compute node, delete it. Refer to Delete a compute node.
When the charges start and stop
| Event | Billing |
|---|---|
| Create, while the cluster builds | Jarvislabs does not charge during the build. |
Create, when the cluster reaches Running | Jarvislabs charges each VM from its own start. So you pay for the build time, once the cluster runs. |
| Create fails | Jarvislabs does not charge for a failed create. |
| Add a compute node | Billing starts when the VM starts. |
| Delete a compute node | Billing for that VM stops. |
| Delete a cluster | Billing for all its VMs stops. The shared filesystem stays and it bills until you delete it. |
A VM is off after poweroff | The VM bills at the full price. Refer to Do not power off a VM. |
A drained compute node still bills. A compute node with no jobs still bills.
Before you create or add
Your balance must cover one hour of the whole cluster at create. It must cover one hour of the new compute nodes when you add them.
Keep your balance above zero
If your balance goes negative, Jarvislabs can stop or suspend the cluster. Keep your balance above zero.
The shared filesystem
The shared filesystem bills separately, and it stays billed until you delete it, even with no cluster. Refer to Shared Filesystems.
